The 2011 TRIM Initiative
Hi Fellow CEMCers, Happy 2011! Trust this new year will bring you many fresh starts.
One of my favorite shows on TV is called The Biggest Loser... have you seen it? It features very overweight individuals trying to lose as much of their weight as they physically, mentally, and emotionally can to not only win a nice cash prize...and to come away with a slimmer, healthier body. Week after week, [...]
the contestants struggle through their workouts, watch what they eat, push themselves beyond their limits to do what they thought were impossible tasks... all to strive towards their goal to shed weight that have not only diminished their quality of life but physically harmed their health. I am constantly amazed at the stamina, dedication, and sheer determination of these individuals to get to their goal albeit not without buckets full of sweat and tears. But the big secret to much of their success is that they do not do this alone...they are constantly being supported (not babied) by their trainers and fellow contestants. As a result, each person sheds an incredible number of pounds per week.In 2011, CEMC is doing our version of "The Biggest Loser". We are looking to get our spiritual bodies "TRIM". Perhaps we've gotten ourselves more than a little flabby from a lack of healthy activities and nourishment. And maybe no one has ever told us what they were to be begin with. Could it be [...]
that we've been snacking a little too much on our guilty pleasures rather than digging into the Word. Can we even recalled the last time we flexed some spiritual muscles? Whatever the case, it's safe to say we can all use a little toning here and there. Let's all come to the scale to weigh in and challenge ourselves and each other to shed those pesky pounds that have been weighing us down from getting in the best spiritual shape we can be for the Lord. The best part of all is we will be doing this together. At the finale of each season of The Biggest Loser, only one winner emerges. But despite its namesake, no one really walks away a loser. Everyone who participated has gained a new body and a new attitude. Similarly, our participation will not only yield us a healthier spiritual body but a lifetime of "God" habits to boot. The TRIM Regiment:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. - Hebrews 12:1-2
